Rating
What This Rating Means |
PERFORMING Adequate
This rating describes a program that needs to set more ambitious goals, achieve better results, improve accountability or strengthen its management practices.
- Although there are several Bureaus and Departments providing resources to this group of beneficiaries for similar purposes, the BIA does not duplicate their efforts. This is the only program providing support to the Department of Justice to defend or secure title to Indian water rights.
- The program has a limited number of long-term and short-term performance measures, developed in 2005, that can adequately demonstrate the performance of the program with the resources provided.
- Outside interests and Tribes have conducted reviews on specific aspects of the program. However, there has not been an independent review of the program's management on a regular basis.
