OPM Begins Airing Federal Recruitment Ads in Pittsburgh

Ads Encourage Americans to Consider a Career in the Federal Civil Service

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Linda M. Springer announced the launch of a series of commercials throughout greater Pittsburgh designed to raise public awareness of career opportunities available in the Federal government. The ads will run for two weeks beginning Monday, September 18th on network and cable channels throughout the Pittsburgh media market.

"With more than 22,100 employment openings in the Federal government right now, we need Americans to step forward and serve their nation in the Federal civilian workforce," Director Springer said. "No matter what your professional background, the Federal government has a place for you."

The ads are part of a nationwide campaign which premiered at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. earlier this year, to raise awareness of potential employees around the nation to the unique and rewarding careers available in the Federal civil service. Ads featuring real Federal workers denote some of the divergent opportunities available. Each ad instructs viewers to visit www.USAJOBS.gov to discover the many careers the Federal civil service has to offer and how to apply.

"More than ever before, we need talented and skilled individuals to come share their talents with us in the Federal government," Springer concluded. "I encourage Americans throughout greater Pittsburgh to visit www.USAJOBS.gov today to discover the many opportunities we have for you."
