Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced that he has named two individuals to serve in his administration.

The President has named Heather Ann Hopkins to be Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Legislative Affairs in the National Security Council. Ms. Hopkins recently served as Executive Director for Public Affairs at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the Department of Transportation. Prior to this, she served twice in Iraq, as Deputy Chief of Protocol during the Coalition Provisional Authority and as Senior Advisor for Communications for Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad at Embassy Baghdad. She received her bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University.

The President has named Rhonda Houston to be Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director for Appointments and Scheduling. Ms. Houston recently served as Deputy Director of the Office of Presidential Appointments and Scheduling. Prior to this, she served as Associate Director in the White House Visitors Office. She received her bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
