Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate three individuals to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Linda Thomas-Greenfield, of Louisiana, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Liberia. Ms. Thomas-Greenfield currently serves as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of African Affairs at the Department of State. Prior to this, she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration at the Department of State. Earlier in her career, she served as a Counselor for Refugee Affairs at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. Ms. Thomas-Greenfield received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin.

The President intends to nominate Susan D. Peppler, of California, to be Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (Community Planning and Development). Ms. Peppler currently serves as Deputy Associate Administrator in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the General Services Administration. Prior to this, she served as Mayor of the City of Redlands, California. Earlier in her career, she served as a Public Affairs Specialist at State Farm Insurance Company. Ms. Peppler received her bachelor's degree from California State University.

The President intends to nominate Ralph E. Martinez, of Florida, to be a Member of the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 09/30/10.
