Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals and appoint four individuals to serve in his Administration.

The President intends to nominate Dana Gioia, of California, to be Chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts, for an additional four year term. Mr. Gioia is a poet, literary critic, educator and author of numerous books. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gioia served as Vice President of Marketing for General Foods. He has also served as a Visiting Writer at Johns Hopkins University, Sarah Lawrence College, Colorado College, Mercer University and Wesleyan University. Mr. Gioia received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University, his master's from Harvard University and his MBA from Stanford University.

The President intends to nominate Eric D. Eberhard, of Washington, to be a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Morris K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation, for a six year term expiring October 6, 2012.

The President intends to appoint the following individuals to serve as Members of the Advisory Commission on Drug-Free Communities:

Catherine Thatcher Brunson, of Tennessee (Public) for a three year term beginning November 20, 2006.

Dennis Griffith, of California (National Substance Abuse Reduction Organization), for an additional three year term beginning November 20, 2006.

Steve Moak, of Arizona (National Substance Abuse Reduction Organization), for a three year term beginning November 20, 2006.

Janet R. Wood, of Colorado (State Substance Abuse Reduction Organization) for the remainder of a three year term expiring November 19, 2007.
