President to Welcome European Commission President Barroso to the White House

President Bush will welcome European Commission President Barroso for a meeting and lunch at the White House on October 18, 2005. The United States has worked in partnership with the Commission to advance democracy in Europe and beyond. The President and Commission President Barroso look forward to discussing a number of transatlantic issues, including strengthening our cooperation to advance freedom and democracy in the Broader Middle East and North Africa, increasing prosperity and economic development around the world, and advancing global trade negotiations under the Doha Development Agenda.
