HIV/AIDS Centers Help Thousands in Botswana

A national network of counseling and testing centers in Botswana has allowed thousands to know their HIV/AIDS status. Botswana has the second highest per capita rate of HIV in the world. The Tebelopele program provides free, anonymous HIV testing and counseling on a walk-in basis with same-day results. Since its inception in 2000, Tebelopele has developed to include 24 centers and four mobile units. The centers are funded by the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, and have provided counseling and testing to more than 118,000 people.
