Liberia to Hold Elections by October 2005
Fact of the Day

Liberia will hold elections no later than October 2005. The Chairman of the National Transitional Government of Liberia signed the Liberian elections reform into law last week. According to the National Elections Committee and the United Nations, this law will form the basis for the elections under the terms of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed in Accra in August 2003. This is an important milestone in the implementation of the agreement and the establishment of a representative democracy in Liberia.
