al-Manar Placed on Terrorist List
Fact of the Day

The United States has designated al-Manar, a television station for the Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla group, as a terrorist organization. In making the announcement, the State Department said, al-Manar has "... disgusting programming that preaches hatred and violence and ... ideas that are antithetical to the values which we believe in." The designation was made by the Secretary of State with the departments of Justice and Homeland Security, and under the authority of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
