Afghans on Path to Increase Literacy
Fact of the Day

As the world observes International Literacy Day, the achievements the Afghan people have made toward improving literacy in their country stand out. More Afghan children are attending school than ever before, with enrollment four times higher than at the fall of the Taliban's regime. Foreign partners are helping Afghanistan meet its people's demand for more education. Hundreds of schools are being rebuilt or rehabilitated over the next three years, thousands of new teachers have been trained, and millions of textbooks have been distributed.
