Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Lloyd O. Pierson, of Virginia, to be Assistant Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (Bureau of Africa). Mr. Pierson currently serves as Chief of Staff and Chief of Operations for the Peace Corps. Throughout his career, he has held a number of positions within the Peace Corps including Associate Director and Country Director for Ghana, Botswana, Namibia, and Swaziland. Mr. Pierson also worked at the International Republican Institute, serving as Director of the Africa Division for the Washington, D.C. based non-profit organization. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Houston.

The President intends to nominate Lloyd O. Pierson, of Virginia, to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the African Development Foundation (Government Representative) for the remainder of a six-year term expiring September 22, 2009.

The President intends to designate C. W. Bill Young, of Florida, to be the President's Personal Representative at the Farnborough International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition and Air Show, to be held July 19-25, 2004.
