Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Deborah P. Majoras, of Virginia, to be a Member and upon appointment Designate Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission for the remainder of a seven-year term expiring on September 25, 2008. Ms. Majoras is currently a Partner at the Jones Day law firm in Washington, D.C. Previously, she served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust at the Department of Justice. Ms. Majoras received her bachelor's degree from Westminster College and her J.D. from the University of Virginia.

The President intends to nominate Brett T. Palmer, of New York, to be an Assistant Secretary of Commerce (Legislative Affairs). Mr. Palmer currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Trade Legislation at the Department of Commerce. Previously, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of Congressman Bob Ney. Mr. Palmer earned his bachelor's degree from Davidson College.
