Statement on H.R. 74
Statement by the Press Secretary

On Friday, August 1, 2003, the President signed into law:

H.R. 74, which requires the Secretary of Agriculture to convey approximately 24.3 acres of land in the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Nevada, to the Secretary of the Interior to be held in trust for the Washoe Indian Tribe of Nevada and California.

S. 1280, which clarifies the limited liability of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in connection with two Federal pilot programs established under the PROTECT Act that provide for criminal background checks of volunteers for certain youth organizations.
