Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Jeffrey A. Marcus of Texas, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Belgium. Currently, Mr. Marcus serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of J&N Ventures, Inc. He previously served in the same position for Novo Networks, Inc. and as Managing Partner for Marcus & Partners, L.P. Earlier in his career, Mr. Marcus served as President and Chief Executive Officer of AMFM, Inc. (formerly Chancellor Media Corporation). He also founded and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Marcus Cable Company. Mr. Marcus earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

The President intends to nominate Deborah Ann Spagnoli of California, to be a Commissioner of the United States Parole Commission, for a six-year term. Ms. Spagnoli recently served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. She previously served as Deputy District Attorney for Kern County, California. Prior to this position, Ms. Spagnoli served as Chief Counsel for the California State Legislature, Assembly Public Safety Subcommittee on Juvenile Justice. Earlier in her career she served as a Partner with The Stonecreek Group, a political consulting/public affairs firm and as a law clerk for the California Department of Justice. Ms. Spagnoli earned her bachelor's degree from the University of California at Davis and her J.D. from the University of the Pacific.
