Statement on Veterans' Memorial Preservation
Statement by the Press Secretary

On Thursday, May 29, 2003, the President signed into law:

S. 330 -- the "Veterans' Memorial Preservation and Recognition Act of 2003" which increase criminal fines and penalties for defacing certain veterans' memorials; and requires that veterans' cemeteries be treated as sites for which supplemental guide signs may be placed on Federal highways; and

S. 870 -- which extends for one additional school year, the availability of funding for a Department of Agriculture pilot program which provides fruit and vegetables to students in four States and one Indian Reservation.
