President Bush Announced Intention to Nominate

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate three individuals to serve on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia:

The President intends to nominate Jerry S. Byrd of the District of Columbia, to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for the term of fifteen years, vice a new position created by Public Law number 107-114, approved January 8, 2002. He is currently a Magistrate Judge with the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Judge Byrd is a graduate of Fisk University and went on to earn his law degree from Howard University.

The President intends to nominate Judith N. Macaluso of the District of Columbia, to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for the term of fifteen years, vice a new position created by Public Law number 107-114, approved January 8, 2002. She is currently a Magistrate Judge with the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Judge Macaluso is a graduate of the University of Maryland and received her law degree from Howard University.

The President intends to nominate J. Michael Ryan of the District of Columbia, to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for the term of fifteen years, vice a new position created by Public Law number 107-114, approved January 8, 2002. He is currently the Special Counsel to the Director for Public Defender Services for the District of Columbia. He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and earned his law degree from George Washington University.
