President Bush Announced His Intention to Nominate Two Individuals to Serve as Members of His Administration

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve as members of his administration:

The President intends to nominate Janet Hale of Virginia, to be Under Secretary for Management at the Department of Homeland Security. Ms. Hale joins the new Department from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), where she currently serves as Assistant Secretary for Budget, Technology and Finance. Prior to joining HHS, she was the Associate Administrator for Finance for the U.S. House of Representatives. Ms. Hale's previous public service also includes time at the Department of Transportation where she was the Assistant Secretary for Budget and Programs. She is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and received a Master's degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

The President intends to nominate Clark Kent Ervin of Texas, to be Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Ervin currently serves as the Inspector General at the Department of State. Previously he was the Deputy Attorney General, General Counsel and Director of Administration for the State of Texas. Mr. Ervin also served as Assistant Secretary of State in Texas. He is a graduate of Harvard University, and after winning a Rhodes Scholarship, he attended Oxford University where he earned a Master of Arts degree. He then returned to Harvard where he earned a law degree.
