Nomination, Designation and Appointments
President Bush Announces Ten People to Serve in his Administration

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual, his intention to designate one individual and his intention to appoint eight individuals to serve in his administration.

The President intends to nominate J. Paul Gilman to be Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency for Research and Development.  Gilman is currently the Director of Research Integration and Policy Planning for Celera Genomics.  From 1993 to 1998, he was Executive Director of the Commission on Life Sciences and the Board on Agriculture at the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences.  Gilman is a former Administrative Assistant to Senator Pete Domenici and staff director of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee's Energy Research and Development Subcommittee.  He received his undergraduate, Master's and Doctorate degrees from Johns Hopkins University.

The President intends to designate Richard A. Clarke to be Chair of the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board. Clarke was recently named Special Advisor to the President for Cyber Space Security and was previously the National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure Protection and Counter-terrorism on the National Security Council.  Clarke is a member of the Senior Executive Service, having begun his federal service in 1973.  He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The President intends to appoint the following individuals to serve as Members of the Advisory Board on Radiation and Worker Health:

Paul L. Zeimer of Indiana, and upon appointment will be designated Chair Henry Anderson of Wisconsin Roy Lynch DeHart of Tennessee Sally Gadola of Tennessee James M. Melius of New York Wanda Iris Munn of Washington Robert W. Presley of Tennessee Gennevieve S Roessler of Minnesota
