Statement by the Press Secretary
On Monday, August 20, 2001, the Following Bills Were Signed Into Law
H.R. 93, Federal Firefighters Retirement Age Fairness Act, Which
Raises the Mandatory Retirement Age for Federal Firefighters From 55
to 57;
H.R. 271, Carson City, Nevada Site Conveyance, Will Allow The
Secretary of Interior to Convey 4.5 Acres of Federal Land to Carson
City, Nevada, for An Assisted Living Center;
H.R. 427, Little Sandy River Watershed Protection, Establishes

On Monday, August 20, 2001, the following bills were signed into law:

H.R. 93, Federal Firefighters Retirement Age Fairness Act, which raises the mandatory retirement age for Federal firefighters from 55 to 57;

H.R. 271, Carson City, Nevada Site Conveyance, will allow the Secretary of Interior to convey 4.5 acres of Federal land to Carson City, Nevada, for an assisted living center;

H.R. 427, Little Sandy River Watershed Protection, establishes protection for the primary domestic water supply in Portland, Oregon.

The following bills will name existing facilities:

  • H.R. 364, Marjory Williams Scrivens Post Office of Miami, Florida,
  • H.R. 558, Edward N. Cahn Federal Building/ U.S. Courthouse of Allentown, Pennsylvania,
  • H.R. 821, W. Joe Trogdon Post Office of Asheboro, North Carolina,
  • H.R. 988, Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse of New York, New York,
  • H.R. 1183, G. Elliot Hagan Post Office of Sylvani, Georgia,
  • H.R. 1753, M. Caldwell Bulter Post Office of Roanoke, Virginia
  • H.R. 2043, Elwood Haynes "Bud" Hilliss Post Office of Kokomo, Indiana.
