Personnel Announcements

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration.

The President intends to nominate Lincoln P. Bloomfield to be Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs. Bloomfield is presently a Partner at Armitage Associates in Arlington, Virginia.  He has served in a variety of positions within the federal government including Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs from 1992-1993, and as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs from 1988-1989.  He was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service and the State Department Superior Honor Award. He is a graduate of Harvard University and received his Master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tuft's University.

The President intends to nominate Viet Dinh to be Assistant Attorney General for Legal Policy.  Dinh is currently a professor at Georgetown University Law School where he is the Deputy Director of the Asian Law and Policy Studies Program.  He served as Special Counsel to Senator Pete Domenici.  A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School, he served as a Law Clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
