The World Will Always Remember September 11
The embassy in Canberra and US consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth held remembrance events. A senior Australian government official attended the embassy event in Canberra, which featured a ceremonial tree planting and the playing of both national anthems. Event was held at 8:46 am local time.

These heinous crimes have caused catastrophic loss of life, injury and destruction. We anticipate that a significant number of Australian nationals are included among those who lost their lives.
"I have already conveyed to the President of the United States the condolences of the Australian Government and people, and expressed our resolute support for the United States at this most difficult time."
