For over one billion Muslims throughout the world, Ramadan is month of fasting, prayer, worship, and contemplation. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset every day. It is a time to strengthen family and community ties.

As President Bush stated in his Ramadan message, "Muslims observe this month [Ramadan] by renewing their dedication to caring for those in need, doing good deeds, and strengthening family and community ties. These actions reflect many of the values that Muslims share with people of other faiths."
